HOW TO ADD NEW SONGS FROM ZERO?
First of all, let's explain how the Songs system work in StepMania.
HOW THE SONGS SYSTEM WORK IN STEPMANIA?
As you can see in the image, inside the StepMania folder you'll find one called Songs, inside it the next folder will be a Group folder (you can create as many group folders as you want), inside must have another folder which will be the Song folder (you can create as many as you want), and inside thar Song folder there will be the files to work with StepMania. Please note that Steps file and Music file are MANDATORY to work properly (the other files like those images and the video are optional). This is how it work, so have this on mind.
AFTER SEE THIS, LET'S GET STARTED ABOUT HOW TO ADD NEW SONGS FROM ZERO!!!
1- Create the folders following the explanation seen above. Please note ONLY the Group and then the Song folder have customized names (Ex: "SMTE Mix" as group folder, and inside it "All the Things She said" as Song Folder.

2- After having the music file (must be only one), paste it into the Song folder.

3- To create the Steps file, we will recommend to use a Notepad app, and when saving, change the filetype to "All Files", and name the file with a customized name PLUS the file extension (we recommend .ssc just after the file name. Ex: "All the Things She said.ssc"). After that, you can add all the optional files into the Song folder (banner, jacket, background, videos, bg animations...).

4- Try to find a BPM analyzer app to see how many BPM is the song speed. When you see the number, please have it on hand.

5- After meeting the "requirements", launch StepMania and get into the Edit Mode.

6- In the Edit Mode, look for the added song, choose any difficulty level and press Enter on Create New.

7- There, start to edit the steps of your songs (using the traditional number keys, NOT those from the numpad), change the BPM of the song (StepMania uses 60 BPM as default on new files) to the number you did obtain from the BPM analyzer app, and NEVER forget to save your progress (by pressing Esc, go to Save and press Enter).
